Back in 2006 our Son was diagnosed as having Coeliac disease which indicates he can’t come into contact with gluten in any shape or form. In order to handle and control his disease efficiently we decided to cut out gluten as a family, which means we have lived as a GF family for almost 6 years. Okay, so Mrs F and I cheat on occasions but the ritualistic cleaning that goes on afterwards to avoid cross contamination almost spoils the enjoyment of the fabulous gluten containing foods.

So when Warburton’s a well known UK baker announced it was to open a new exclusively gluten free (GF) facility and start making a whole range of GF produce, the news was most welcome.
Whole Fusion Complete Nutritional Food Supplement is a 100% All Natural, RAW, Gluten Free, Vegan, Drink Mix / Protein Powder That Tastes GREAT!Whole Fusion is made with 100% Organic Brown Rice, Amaranth, Golden Flax Seed, Chia Seed, Chlorella Agae, Spirulina Algae, and Quinoa!
The range, which until recently has been kept under wraps for a number of months, could provide new choices for coeliac disease sufferers, and a possible saviour from bland, crumbly, gluten-free breads which some supermarkets offer. Initial indicators are that there will be both brown and white loafs, rolls, crumpets and tea cakes. Now this news to a ‘normal’ person must be less than interesting but to a Coeliac or the family of a Coeliac its ruddy fantastic. The average price of a GF loaf is around 3-4 and as a rule you can knock a 6″ nail into concrete with it. You see, gluten is Mother nature’s elastic so eliminate it and everything turns to dust . At the time of publishing 15Jan11, Warburton’s are saying the products will be ready for supermarket shelves in 6 days time, but something tells me (as with ALL free from products) it will take a little longer for it to trickle into the supermarkets. Who knows, maybe the affect of the household Warburton’s name will be strong enough to prompt instant nationwide shelf filling? *Fingers crossed*
Warburtons PR Manager Jessica Bowker said: to ensure complete product safety we have been working closely with the lovely people at Coeliac UK and to avoid any risk of cross contamination we have purchased a bespoke bakery that will only produce our gluten-free products
If you too suffer from a gluten intolerance or are a Coeliac you can register your interest at the following world wide web address: http://www.glutenandwheatfree.co.uk/
I’m hoping that the NHS make it possible for the new Warburton’s products to be ordered through the prescription system as this would help greatly. I’ve written to the Warburton’s GF team requesting a few cheeky samples, if / when the arrive i’ll report back on the results.
For those days where I CRAVE a Warburton’s tea-cake, I can finally have one 😀
